I just noticed a cool little feature on my laptops touchpad.

on the far right is a section more or less reserved for scrolling (much like the scrollwheel on a mouse)

my old one didnt have this, and in fact I had never even seen one before. its nice.

Oh, and Im also using firefox now :-)

Matt and I (and maybe Smee, Axis) had some software that did the same thing on our Powerbooks. The latest generation of powerbooks doesn't have a side or bottom region set aside, it will scroll if you use move two fingers in the same direction simultaneously.

There's nothing special about the touchpads, it's all software driven. We came across the code Apple uses for the latest PBs (someone on the interweb had compiled it as a module, we replaced the old keyboard controller with it) and I like it a lot.

edit: shit I just realised this isn't in the thread I thought it was.

My old laptop had the scroll thing too, but it sometimes got annoying, I generally used the "middle mouse button" for that, but as dsl already said it was just a software app that was easy to turn off.

I have always thought it weird that leftmargin and topmargin are not defaulted to 0.

Do a google image search for "hand on chin" with the quote marks.
You won't be disappointed, I promise you...

GIS doesn't always return the same things for everyone... what should we be seeing?

It would depend on what GIS package you use, I wouldn't want to get one that varied the results , you should get the same thing back from the same search for a good GIS package :P
